Voluntary Correction Notice: ZOLL Powerheart G5 AEDs

ZOLL has issued a voluntary correction notice for the Powerheart G5 Semi-Automatic and Automatic AEDs following reports of a potential fault.

What has been reported?

Some Powerheart G5 devices have displayed Error Code (EC) 501 after performing their normal self-tests. According to ZOLL, this issue may occur if the AED has been exposed to humidity levels outside the manufacturer’s published specifications.

What is the risk?

If an AED experiences Error Code 501, the device will not be able to deliver lifesaving therapy. This creates a potential risk that a user may not notice the device’s failed status before it is needed in an emergency.

Recommended actions for users

ZOLL advises all customers and owners of Powerheart G5 AEDs to take the following steps:

  1. Read ZOLL’s official Field Safety Notice FAQ for full guidance and details.

  2. Check the device readiness indicator regularly to confirm your AED is in working condition.

  3. Store devices within the recommended conditions:

    • Temperature: 0°C to 50°C

    • Humidity: 10% to 95% (non-condensing)

Stay informed and prepared

Maintaining AED readiness is critical in ensuring your workplace, training centre, or public environment is prepared for emergencies. If you own or manage a Powerheart G5 AED, please take the above steps immediately and contact ZOLL if you require further support.
